Summer Holiday – Switzerland #2

The last day of our time in Switzerland was spent in Aareschlucht (Aare Gorge).

Aare gorge is a limestone ridge with beautiful waters running through the gorge from the run off water of the glaciers.

We walked the narrow walls of the gorge whilst stopping every once in a while to admire the views and to wander inside the caves. The hot weather also meant for several water breaks.

Basic Pasta Dough

Flour and eggs is all you need to make fresh pasta.

It’s so simple and cheap to make and has a significant flavour and texture difference from store bought pasta. Home made pasta is much lighter and richer in colour and flavour. Having a pasta machine makes the process of rolling and cutting the dough much easier. However you can simply use a rolling pin like the Italians.

Pear Frangipane Tarts

I have been craving frangipane since coming back from holiday, and since I haven’t done any baking for a while now I decided to make Pear Frangipane Tarts. Even though they are not the greatest looking dessert I have made they tasted amazing. I served mine warm with caramel icecream however they would also be great with a dollop or creme fraiche or custard.
